作为学者，我的研究兴趣和成就是广泛和多学科的。近年来，我的大部分学术成就都集中在与中国有关的课题上。我担任GeneralManagement期刊和Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies 期刊的编委。我还担任其他学术期刊的推荐人，并共同撰写了一本关于在中国开展商务的书。
Dear Bryant ZhuhaiParents and Students,
I am writing tointroduce myself as the new Dean at Bryant Zhuhai. For students (and supportingparents) who will be returning to our beautiful campus for Bryant Zhuhai’sthird academic year, my arrival marks a change in leadership. For those of youwho will be new to Bryant Zhuhai this year – welcome.
After BryantZhuhai’s first two successful years under the leadership of Dean David Lux, welook forward to entering the next phase of growth for our campus. I wouldpersonally like to thank Dean Lux for his excellent work and dedication inbuilding a strong foundation for our programs in Zhuhai. I would also like tothank Bryant President Ron Machtley for providing me with the opportunity tolead Bryant Zhuhai as Dean during the next several years.
I am honored joinBryant University at this exciting time and look forward to supporting all ofyou during your years as students at Bryant Zhuhai. As an academic, Iappreciate Bryant’s student-centered and innovative approach to education, andI look forward to creating opportunities for you to become successful leadersand innovators.
I have held avariety of academic and administrative positions throughout my career that Ibelieve will serve me well as the new dean of Bryant Zhuhai. In terms ofadministrative leadership, prior to this appointment I served as dean andprofessor of finance of the School of Business at Canisius College in Buffalo,NY. I also served in associate dean positions at University of Idaho’s Collegeof Business and Economics and at the University of Nottingham Campus in Ningbo,China. Earlier in my career, I was a faculty member at Florida Gulf CoastUniversity, the University of South Florida, and Youngstown State University. I received my bachelor’s degree in business from Cornell University andmy Ph.D. in finance and international business from Kent State University.
I possesssignificant experience living and working in China. In 2002 and 2003, I was theChina Fulbright Scholar at Nanjing University where I taught courses in financeand initiated a research stream in China business. As a part my Fulbrightexperience, I lectured at universities across China, and visited Zhuhai as apart of my invited lecture at Zhongshan University in Guangzhou. At FloridaGulf Coast University, I was appointed founding Director of its Institute forChinese Studies in 2005. In that role, I developed exchange agreements withChinese universities, co-founded a non-profit Chinese language school oncampus, and became vice president of the Southwest Florida Chinese Association.In 2010, I left FGCU to accept a position as Associate Professor at theNottingham University Business School (NUBS) China in Ningbo where I was soonappointed founding Associate Dean of Degree Programmes.
As a scholar, myresearch interests and accomplishments are broad and multidisciplinary. In recent years, much of my scholarship has focused on topics related to China.I serve on the editorial boards for the Journal of General Management and theJournal of Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies. I also serve as a refereefor several other academic journals and have co-authored a book aboutconducting business in China.
I am astudent-centered academic and possess extensive teaching experience in avariety of settings and formats. I have taught a wide array of courses atthe undergraduate, graduate, and executive education levels. I have broadinternational teaching and public speaking experience, including my ChinaFulbright experience, six summers as a faculty member at the CopenhagenBusiness School’s International Summer University Program.
In addition to myacademic and professional experience in China, I have personal ties as well. Mywife Jia was born and raised in China. We own a home in the northern Chinesecity of Tangshan where we travel often with our 15-year old son Nico to visitfamily and friends.
I look forward toproviding all of you with the best experience and education possible during themonths and years ahead. I plan to be on campus in early September andwill have a chance to meet with all of you during our orientation activities. I wish all of you the best and look forward to the year ahead!
